What is Reiki?
Reiki is a safe and effective form of energy healing originating in Japan. Reiki is conducted by a trained practitioner guiding the flow of energy through one’s body in order to support body, mind and soul. Reiki can be performed hands on (through light touch) or hands off (with hands hovering above the body) depending on the receiver’s preference and can also be performed remotely (known as distance reiki). Reiki has been found to increase relaxation, promote positive health outcomes, decrease pain and improve mood. Alyssa is a Reiki Master trained in the Usui System of Reiki Healing by Elizabeth Dagnall, Reiki Master of Masters. Alyssa obtained her Reiki Master Teacher certification from Libby Barnett, MSW, Reiki Master of Masters. Alyssa was first introduced to Reiki when working at Boston Children’s Hospital, as it is a treatment modality used by the hospital.
